Building your Best Bird Feeding Station

Woodpecker and American Goldfinches at multiple feeders
Goldfinches are social feeders.

For all the reasons you think you can’t have a bird feeder, think again.

Too many trees, too many squirrels, too much soggy seeds or not enough yard? Whatever the problem, we can likely help you build a system that works in your space, whether garden, patio or deck.

Many who have said “we just can’t have feeders”, now enjoy four seasons of songbirds. (See Food Notes, below.)

We carry high quality, durable, long-lasting components to deliver pleasure for years. And there are as many accessories designed to provide food safely for birds, as there are components to baffle squirrels, chipmunks and unwanted birds.

through a window, a squirrel is at the bottom of a bird feeder pole that has four hanging feeders and a squirrel baffle on the pole.
Baffled again, Squirrelman! (Or better yet, Squirreled again, Baffleman!)

One-Stop Birdwatching

The most rewarding aspect of the pole system is that all your feeders are in one place; holding seeds, nuts, nyger, suet and more, so all the birds, including hummingbirds and orioles, are all easily seen and enjoyed in one eyeful.

Baffles, domes, compressed seed and suet holders, arms, brackets, and deck clamps that swivel are only some of the components that create a safe space for birds.

Come in and we’ll help set you up.

You can see our selection of pole systems online, but coming into the store for a custom set-up is ideal. Just start with one pole and add to it as you wish. Start with a simple set-up and add to it as desired. Browse bird feeders on our website online shopping pages.

Your family will appreciate the easy gift-giving option for more (and more) accessories!

Watch our two-minute Garden Gate episode from February 2025 “Customize Your Bird-Feeding Station” to see how easy it is to build your best bird feeder for all seasons. We have over 300 videos on our YouTube page you can search by subject.

Food Notes: September

Now is the time to change food offerings to include more peanuts and sunflower seeds. The grackles and starlings are reducing in numbers and migrating birds will soon be moving through the region. Our Seasons Woodland blend of bird food is changing to include seasonal-appropriate seeds. Each season this mix is changed to accommodate the birds and their environment. And remember, our seeds have ZERO filler and are delivered to the shop every Tuesday.
