On any First Friday Art Crawl in downtown Peterborough, Ontario, fellow crawlers are always open to surprises.
So I was not the only one pleasantly surprised to find an unusual studio that needed a smart device to “see” the artwork by @newartybeavis.
Not a whiff of linseed oil in this studio.
Kim Beavis Sanderson (She/They) calls herself a New Media Artist and Tradigital Animator,a culmination of her education background in Computer Aided-Design, Computer Animation, Illustration, and Graphic Art.
She explained to me how their art works:
She used the example of “Sucker Soup”, a piece most recently selected to be included in the Ontario Society of Artists’ 151st open-juried show, “The Unquiet North”.
But I couldn’t experience it without the aid of a smart device.
I loved it and we began talking about whether she could adapt this to work with greeting cards. Kim was game and so was I.
And now have delightful cards from Kim Beavis in our card racks.
They may look simple.
Until you properly “engage” them…
