We have a new artist in the shop! Megan Archer (they/them) is an autistic nonbinary artist based in rural Nova Scotia. They founded Aflame Creations in 2011, and have been single-handedly crafting this unique and vibrant enameled copper jewelry ever since. Every piece is a small story in colour and texture. Each piece begins with an 18-gauge copper sheet, cleaned and kiln-fired at 1350°F to prepare the surface. Finely sifted powdered glass — enamel — is layered and fired again at temperatures up to 1500°F. The colours respond uniquely to the heat, producing subtle variations that make every piece one of a kind. Exposed copper areas are sealed with a protective lacquer, and all chains, hooks, and findings are hypoallergenic stainless steel. Come by soon and have a look at this beautiful, wearable art!
