Andrew Wingrove – Bee by the Sea

Bee By The Sea Natural Products was founded in 2008 by Andrew Wingrove, in Ontario, Canada.

Products can be found here.

Their story is unique because the product concept did not originate from either a chemist’s lab or from cosmeticians.  Their products exist today because of a chance discovery of an herb – Sea Buckthorn (hippophae rhamnoides) that Andrew encountered while working abroad as a consultant.

After some research Andrew quickly discovered that these amazing plants had already been brought to Canada by the Ministry of Agriculture!  Andrew’s lifetime interest in biology and agriculture combined with previously owning two farm properties made it a natural progression to planting his own Sea Buckthorn orchard near Sundridge, Ontario.  Andrew was fascinated by the healing properties of this ancient plant!

At the same time, Andrew’s father, John Wingrove, was actively promoting a honey based skin cream and was seeing the benefits and popularity of this product.  Andrew felt that combining Sea Buckthorn and honey in skin care products would provide skin health unlike anything else on the market.

In 2008, after 12 months of research and development, Andrew was ready to launch his signature body cream to the public.  To this day, Andrew continues to personally add the key ingredients – unpasteurized honey and Sea Buckthorn – to ensure consistency and quality in every batch.

Bee By The Sea products are sold online and in hundreds of retail stores across Canada and the United States.  As of January 2018 they now have their own retail location in Orillia, Ontario.

Save The Bees

Bee by the Sea launched the “Save the Bees Campaign” in 2017 to support the University of Guelph’s Honey Bee Research Centre. As advocates and supporters of this amazing program, their goal is to raise awareness and rally support for the declining bee populations.

Their campaign offers unique products with a portion of the proceeds going directly to the Research Centre. They are thrilled to present “Give Bees a Chance”  and “I’m trying to love Spiders” by Bethany Barton as part of our charitable program. These fantastic children’s’ books are filled with fun facts and illustrations  that are educational and promote awareness and respect.  Stay tuned as they expand their one of a kind collection in support of the “Save the Bees” Campaign.

Please visit the University of Guelph’s website to find out more about the Centre, the valuable research and their programming.
