Description

A series of “Peterborough” ornaments were designed and created by Mr. Watson during the early years of the business. These ornaments are loved by guests to our city as memories of their time visiting. They also have become gifts to mail to family and friends overseas or as gifts to speakers at various events in the area. A number of ornaments were created including the Peterborough Liftlock, The Pagoda bridge in Jackson park, the Town clock at Market Hall and The County Courthouse.

Watson Pewter began in Peterborough in 1972 by Marjorie & Gordon Watson.  For many years the Watson’s had a beautiful shop in downtown Peterborough, but after deciding to retire in 1998 they closed the shop.  At that time their daughter Ruth and her husband Grant took over the business and have been running it from their backyard workshop near Tweed, Ontario.  They attend many craft shows to sell their beautiful pewter art, and also offer it at various locations across the country.

The pewter pieces are lead free, earring wires, posts and backs are made from surgical steel.

Pewter requires very little care; wash by hand with soap and water. It can be cleaned with a paste of baking soda on a damp cloth or with silver polish. Test on an inconspicuous spot first.
